Aim
Teach the children about the local Christmas tradition of planting gurbiena and boost their self esteem when they notice the seeds they planted grow into a beautiful white plant.
Material Needed:
- 1. Sticky tape
- 2. coloured paper
- 3. small containers ( plastic cups)
- 4. cotton
- 5. water
- 6. seeds
- 7. colouring material
Procedure:
- Cut the coloured paper into strips the width of height of the container and long enough to wrap the container.
- Decorate the paper
- Dip a fistful of cotton in water, squeeze surplus water out gently, place in bottom half of container.
- Wrap the container with the paper and fix with tape.
- Place seeds in container
- Label each container with the child’s name
- Water gurbiena on alternate days and leave in the dark.

Results:
The children enjoyed the novelty of the experience.
